All of us can probably recall the nicest hotel we’ve stayed in….the flawless decor, the luxurious color palette, the lush amenities, or maybe just the feeling you experienced upon entering the space. Wouldn’t it be nice to create even a small sense of that ambiance in your own home? With these few simple steps you can have that relaxed, luxury hotel feel without ever leaving home.
Start With Lavish Linens
Nothing exudes hotel elegance like crisp white linens crafted from 100% Egyptian cotton. Yes, they’re a bit more expensive (use the highest thread count you can afford), but the feeling you get when you slip between those velvety sheets is worth every penny!
Like a luxe hotel room, the bed should take center stage in your master suite, inviting you come in and relax. Adding a few accent pillows and a throw blanket to complement your bedding creates that chic, finished look.
A bench at the foot of the bed not only serves a practical purpose (additional storage, extra seating, a surface for stacking clean laundry, unpacking, etc.), but also gives the bed more presence and creates a graceful transition to the floor.Include a Few Niceties
A fine hotel room is often well-appointed with little details that help make your stay feel luxurious. Thick, white terrycloth robes, plush bath towels, an in-room audio system, overhead dimmers, a lighted makeup mirror, heated towel racks, a vase of fresh flowers.
Is there any reason you couldn’t include a few of these niceties in your own master retreat? When making the bed, you might even consider placing a piece of chocolate or other favorite treat on your pillow to give you something to look forward to at the end of the day (just be sure the dog or kids don’t enjoy it first!).
Stay Clutter Free
No matter how big or small, everything in a hotel room has its place so that the space is well-organized and clutter free. Not to imply you can’t have essential items within easy reach, but use baskets, decorative boxes or other attractive storage solutions to cleverly conceal toiletries, remote controls, hair brushes, and other necessities you use daily.
Entering a serene, clutter free space can have an amazingly uplifting effect on your mood, allowing you to relax , unwind, and savor your surroundings.
